Completed GIN events:

The 3rd Conference in Mexico City of Greening of Industry Network (GIN) co-organised in collaboration with the University of Twente and Tecnológico de Monterrey (GIN-UT-TEC) was held on April 18 -20, 2012. http://www.egade.mx/wps/wcm/connect/EBS/EGADE+Business+School/GIN2012/Home.
During the conference, multi-actors from business, governments, academia and NGOs, shared their experiences and innovative visions of “sustainable regional development”. The core question of the conference focused on “Can collaborative strategies by multi-stakeholders facilitate the conditions towards sustainable regional development models?” Of course there were other questions rose during discussions “in” and “outside” the conference-venue.
As part of the conclusions of this conference, participants agreed that “collaboration” among stakeholders is a “requirement” for implementing strategies to develop a region under the sustainability principles. Global demanding’s and global systematic changes have driven business, commerce and industry operation however regional settings have a crucial influence along the strategies implementation.
A number of the presented papers shown some of the company’s conditions needed to interact with public environmental policy instruments which turned out into successful cases. From the governmental viewpoint, some academics explained the impact of voluntary policy instruments as certification schemes on sustainability indicators.
In addition, leadership came across as fundamental actors’ characteristic while creating collaborative conditions -transparency, trust, among others- in order to sit together for sharing management and policy strategies towards sustainable regional development.
Triple helix strategies took importantly the participant’s attention and generated new questions at the local settings stage such as: “how can really the concept of “triple helix” be operationalized to facilitate the regional sustainable development?”
In connection to that question, in our oncoming conference (http://www.gin2012.se/) in October 22-24 in Linköpig, city located in the East region of Sweden which is famous for its “triple helix” synergies, there will be certainly opportunities to answer such question. Certainly, the conference in Linköpig aims to answer related questions to the conference title: GIN 2012 Support for future today!

GIN2010 ‘Climate Change and Green Growth: Innovating for sustainability’

June 13-16, 2010, ASEM Hall COEX Convention Center, Seoul, Korea

Climate change is the single most critical issue actively discussed all over the world. The Korea government declared ‘Low Carbon Green Growth’ as a top priority policy agenda in August 2008, and is about to present a voluntary carbon emission reduction target. Since we anticipate that more countries will join our common efforts to reduce green house gas emissions after Copenhagen Summit, we need to pursue the right way to cope with climate change together with developing countries.

As a host of GIN2010, KEMA (The Korea Environmental Management Association) welcomes you to the GIN2010. We promise a fruitful academic and cultural program, an excellent networking opportunity, with special entertainment. We will arrange meeting with editors of major journals during the Conference so that high quality contributions can be published in the journals.
