Michael Baram is Professor of Law at Boston University School of Law and also
holds faculty appointments in the School of Public Health (Health Law Division)
and the Bioinformatics Department at BU. He is also a Legal Volunteer at the
Conservation Law Foundation. He was previously a partner in the Boston law
firm of Bracken and Baram for over 25 years, and a Professor at MIT. He is
a graduate of the Tufts University School of Engineering; (B.S.) and Columbia
University Law School (LLB). He specializes in Environmental Law, Occupational
Health Law, Biotechnology Law, Corporate Risk Management, and Products Liability.
He has provided consulting and legal services to numerous public and private
organizations both national and international. He has also been Visiting Professor
at the Technical University of Berlin and a lecturer at Carnegie-Mellon University
and Clark University. He has served on numerous expert national and regional
committees and boards. His publications include seven books and over 100 articles
in legal, professional and academic journals, books and other media.

Gordon Bristol is a life-long resident of Windham County. After high school,
Gordon built a camp in Dummerston, Vermont and this became his first building
project. His experiences continued in helping with a small printing business.
Evolving to a period of time working for a large firm in project management.
Gordon has served as a Planning Commission Member and Selectman in Brattleboro.
He also served as a member of the Vermont General Assembly (Vermont State
Legislature) in the 1990's. Gordon has vast experience as a project manager.
The new 32,000 square foot corporate and manufacture facility, the flagship
of the Delta Campus, and the building of the infrastructure of the Delta Campus
were under his control as General Contractor. In his spare time Gordon enjoys
working on his land in Williamsville, Vermont.

Dr. Carpentier has also been employed with the Wallace Institute for Alternative
Agriculture, the International Food Policy Research Institute (outposted in
the Brazilian Amazon) and Virginia Tech. She holds a Ph.D. degree from Virginia
Tech and B.S. and M.S. degrees from McGill University in Agricultural, Environmental
and Natural Resources Economics. She regularly publishes articles on the intricate
relations between economics, trade, the environment and policy, sits on many
advisory bodies, and has extensive public speaking and media experience.

Vermont Life Magazine is part of Tourism and Marketing, and the Vermont Downtown Program and the Division for Historic Preservation are part of Housing and Community Affairs.

well as small start-ups and not-for-profits for over 15 years, John Dulmage
has designed solutions in the areas of management development, strategy planning,
corporate culture and managing change. He has created programs to introduce
technology as a way of improving service, quality and overall efficiencies.
He holds a B.A. in Philosophy/Psychology, a M.Ed. in Educational Technology
and has completed advance graduate study in Educational Administration. He
has a keen interest in socially responsible activities and causes. John has
been the Director of Finance for Forest Watch, a Vermont-based Advocacy and
Education Environmental organization since 1996. In 2005, he became Chair.
In addition, John is a Mentor/Advisor for start-up companies in the Dartmouth
Entrepreneurial Network for Dartmouth College. Flat World Management Solutions

Joe Famolare is the president of Famolare, Inc. a company founded by his father
in 1934. As a young man, Joe served as an expert pattern maker from 1955 -
1960 apprenticing for his father after school and summers. Joe graduated from
Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science degree
in 1958. From 1969 -1988 Famolare, Inc. was a leading U.S. importer of fashion
footwear from Italy. Joe Famolare designs are on permanent display at the
Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and in the permanent collection
of the Costume Institute, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and
the Cincinnati Museum of Art in Ohio. Joe received the Coty Award for fashion
designers in 1973, the Ms. Liberty award for advertising in 1982, and was
inducted into the Fashion Association Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1994 Joe founded
the Vermont Agricultural Business Education Center (VABEC) in Brattleboro,
Vermont. Housed in a historically renovated antique farm on 120 acres, this
center was developed and is primarily a continuing education site encouraging
partnerships between business, government, education and agriculture. Currently,
Joe is president of the newly designated Foreign Trade Zone in Brattleboro.
The Brattleboro Foreign Trade Zone (BFTZ) mandate is to attract new companies
and stimulate existing businesses in Brattleboro while enhancing the understanding
of international opportunities.

Co-founder and Americas coordinator of the Greening of Industry Network, an
international professional association. He works with partners at the University
of Twente in the Netherlands and at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand on
the Network's mission is to create knowledge and transform practice to accelerate
progress toward a sustainable society. Kurt holds an appointment of Research
Professor at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. From 1985 to 1995
he conducted research and directed environmental research programs at the
Tufts University Center for Environmental Management as Director of Research,
and he has 18 years prior business experience. Kurt is co-editor of two titles
in the Network book series published by Island Press including Environmental
Strategies for Industry. He has organized many international conferences and
workshops since 1991, bringing together diverse professional communities to
focus on sustainable development research, policy, and implementation. He
earned his bachelor's degree with honors in sociology from Harvard University
and a master's of science in urban and environmental policy from Tufts University.

Trudy Heller is the founder and President of Executive Education for the Environment.
A 20-year experienced consultant and business educator, she conducts seminars
and gives presentations on Sustainable Business Management for companies,
universities and government agencies internationally. Her current writing
focuses on sustainable business education and innovation of environmentally
sensitive products. This work has been presented at international conferences
in Heidelberg, Rome, Bangkok, Seoul, Gothenburg (Sweden), and Hong Kong. Her
writing on sustainable business appears in the books, Research in Corporate
Sustainability and Teaching Business Sustainability. Her research on innovation
and new technology development has been published in the journals, Organization
Science, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, and The IEEE Transactions
on Engineering Management. Ms. Heller holds a Ph.D. in Management from the
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Organizational
Development from Temple University. She chairs the Recycling Committee in
her home town.

attended both N.C. State University and the University of North Carolina at

at UNC-CH, Eric was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and started
Creative Screen Designs, which sold screenprinted apparel to the college market.
Before the start of his senior year, Eric left to become a partner with Tom
Sineath at T.S. Designs, Inc. In addition to his responsibilities at T.S.
Designs, Eric devotes a lot of time to volunteer organizations. He serves
on the board of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association, where he was the
chairperson from 2001-2002, the Board of Advisors for the Martha & Spencer
Love School of Business at Elon University, the Board of Advisors for the
Elon University Center for Environmental Studies, Advisory for DENR's Environmental
Stewardship Initiative, and elected to the board of the Women's Resource Center
in 2005. Eric is a past board member of the Burlington Bicycle Advisory Board,
Piedmont Land Conservancy, and the Alamance County Planning Board. He received
the 2005 Governor's Conservation Achievement Award from NC Wildlife Federation.
His latest endeavor is starting Local Action, LLC to develop resources from
our local community of Alamance County that supports our community. The first
bio-diesel project he has set up is a small batch biodiesel processor at TSD,
along with starting the Burlington Biodiesel Co-op.

Frances is the Research Manager of BRASS, and is responsible for co-ordinating
the work of the research staff within the Centre, and for assisting with the
development of new project proposals. She holds an MSc from Lancaster University
on European Environmental Policy and Regulation. Frances previously worked
as project manager of the Sustainable Business Research Group at Cardiff University
and until recently was the Chair of the Welsh Steering Group, Institute of
Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Her research interests include:
Environmental Policy and Regulation; Voluntary Approaches to Environmental
Regulation; Environmental and Sustainability Management Systems; Environmental
Management in East Central Europe; Environmental Supply Chain Management;
Environmental Management in the Electronics Sector; Environmental Management
in the Chemicals Sector; Environmental Business Support Networks; Waste Management;
Regional Sustainability and Supply Chains; The Role of Partnerships in Promoting
Sustainability, Social Enterprises and Sustainability. Frances is involved
with a range of projects at the current time. These include: Electronics -
taking account of product take back; Social Enterprises and Sustainability,
Waste Management and work on Sustainable Consumption and Production. She is
currently leading the team organising the 13th Greening of Industry Network
Conference, GIN2006, due to take place in Cardiff in July 2006.

Robert Johnson is a native-born entrepreneur and inventor. A proprietor of
businesses since high school his first venture was a auto repair shop. In
1970 he invented the second all- electric car to be built in the United States.
He began an energy company that thrives today under new ownership, Friends
of the Sun. Educationally he founded the Neighborhood Schoolhouse. His largest
venture, next to the Delta Campus project, is Omega Optical. The optical firm
is an international leader in the optical interference filter business. Bob
has many awards to his credit and was recently named the Brattleboro Development
Credit Corporation Founders Award recipient. In his spare time Bob Johnson
works on his 10 classic Jaguar cars and has fun with his E-bay store.

Mark and his staff support four Federal Advisory Committees on a range of
issues dealing with environment, finance, and trade, including implementation
of the environmental accords of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Previously,
as Special Assistant to the Administrator and Deputy Administrator of EPA,
Mark's responsibilities included the development of air quality policies,
technology innovation and technology transfer, and international programs.
He also worked for the U.S.Senate Budget Committee, where one of his responsibilites
was lead anaylst for the U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement.

Peter C. Lowitt, AICP, is excited to be the chairman of Green Roofs for Healthy
Cities. For his day job he serves as Director/Land Use Administrator for the
Devens Enterprise Commission, the agency charged with permitting the redevelopment
of the former Fort Devens army base in Massachusetts. At Devens, Mr. Lowitt
focuses on the sustainable redevelopment of this 4400-acre former army base.
In this capacity he has developed the EcoStar environmental branding and achievement
program to promote eco-industrial networking and green building. Prior to
coming to Devens, Mr. Lowitt served as Director of Planning and Economic Development
for the Town of Londonderry, New Hampshire (1993-1999) where he developed
the Londonderry Ecological Industrial Park and the award winning Sustainable
Londonderry Program. Mr. Lowitt has been active in the planning and economic
development profession, serving as past-Chair of the Economic Development
Division of American Planning Association (APA), current President of the
Massachusetts Chapter of American Planning Association, and is a former President
of the New Hampshire Planners Association. He has lectured on sustainable
economic development in New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and
Canada and has been appointed to the editorial board of the Eco-Industrial
Advantage, the journal of the Eco-Industrial Network. Mr. Lowitt has a B.A.
in history from Brown University (1979) and a M.A. in Community Economic Development
from the Urban Environmental Policy Graduate Program at Tufts University (1992).

Dr. Meima's career has included information systems and marketing positions
at IBM, Andersen Consulting, and LM Ericsson. His education includes a BS
in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MA in
International Relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS, an MBA from the Wharton School,
and a Ph.D. (Ek.doktor) from Lund University, Sweden. Dr. Meima has authored
a number of books and articles in the field of corporate environmental management,
and also has strong research and practical interests in business strategy,
marketing and advertising, sustainable regional development, and games and
simulations for training. During his time in Sweden, he operated a small consulting
firm - Meima Associates (http://www.meima.com) - specializing in business
communication, particularly in the areas of corporate social responsibility
(CSR), environment, and sustainability. Ralph Meima currently holds the position
of Assistant Professor of Organizational Management at the School for International
Training, in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA - the accredited graduate school of
World Learning. He teaches courses in management, ethics & accountability,
marketing, strategy, organizational behavior, and research methods. He chairs
several committees, and advises SIT students around the world. Dr. Meima is

and community-based entrepreneurship & innovation. A former financial
journalist with Fortune Magazine, global environmental policy advisor to Japan's
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and a United Nations research specialist
on Asian environmental and urban development issues, he worked as a senior
research consultant and Japanese and Asian equity specialist in the Governance
and Socially Responsibility Investment Group of ISIS Asset Management, a London-based
investment company. An editorial/review board member of the Journal of Corporate

Sustainable Transformation of Global Information Technology, Communication,
and Electronics Industries" (Greenleaf Publishing, 2002) and is currently

Terry Porter

Terry Porter holds a doctorate in management and a master's degree in clinical
psychology. She teaches graduate courses in organizational behavior, organization
theory, and social entrepreneurship. She has an extensive background in experiential
learning and team development in a variety of settings. Her areas of interest
include environmental sustainability, strategic processes, combining micro
and macro approaches in organization theory, and identity-related issues.

Jason Roeder

Jason Roeder is the Deputy Secretary for the Office of Commonwealth Development (OCD) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Charged by Governor Mitt Romney with the mission of caring for the natural and built environment of Massachusetts, the OCD oversees the Executive Office of Transportation, Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, the Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Division of Energy Resources. At OCD, Mr. Roeder coordinates all financial planning and budgeting and develops transportation and energy and climate change policy. Before taking his current position, Mr. Roeder worked in the private sector at the global strategy consultancy Bain and Company. Prior experiences include work in as an environmental engineer and within the non-profit sector. Mr. Roeder holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a master's degree in Environmental Engineering, also from Stanford University.

Joseph Sarkis is a Professor of Operations and Environmental Management at Clark University's Graduate School of Management. He has a Ph.D. in Management Sciences from SUNY at Buffalo. He has been teaching and researching in various issues related to corporate environmental management. Some of his specific interests include environmentally conscious manufacturing, green supply chain management, and multiple criteria decision making. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous academic journals. He is editor of Management Research News, an Emerald Publishing Journal. He is currently editing a book on Greening the Supply Chain that will be published in 2006 by Springer-Verlag.

Syed Aqeel Tirmizi

Aqeel Tirmizi has a master's degree in international administration and a
doctorate in
management. He teaches in the areas of organizational behavior, capacity building,
performance management, organization design, and leadership. Before coming
to SIT, he taught at SUNY, Binghamton; the Lahore University of Management
Sciences; and the Global Partnership Program in NGO Leadership and Management,
BRAC, Bangladesh. He has undertaken training and consulting assignments for
clients such as the Ford Foundation (New York), the World Bank (Islamabad),
the Canadian International Development Agency, LEAD Pakistan, the Central
Board of Revenue, Pakistan Steel Mills, and the Aga Khan Rural Support Program.
Tirmizi conducts research in the areas of leadership, cross-cultural management,
human resources management, and applications of experiential learning. He
has presented his work at leading international conferences in Asia, Europe,
and the U.S. Tirmizi is a member of the Academy of Management, USA, and is
a certified Human Systems Development Specialist.

Weinberg

Adam Weinberg comes to World Learning from Colgate University, where he has
held various positions since 1994, serving since 2002 as Vice President and
Dean of the College. During his 11-year tenure at Colgate, Weinberg applied
his background in sociology to both the academic and administrative components
of his work. Recent work on civic education particularly has garnered national
attention from a number of major foundations. He has a considerable record
in the area of sustainable development, including micro-enterprise development,
poverty reduction programs, and educational initiatives. He has also been
involved in a national effort directed toward youth political engagement,
an activity that began as a project in a course he taught.
