Conference Focus
Over the past decade, companies have begun to transform their view of environment from a compliance burden into a business opportunity. Increasingly, environmental awareness is being integrated into core business processes, systems and strategies. In electronic, automotive, energy and consumer product industries, competitive advantage is being sought through pollution prevention, industrial ecology, design for environment, life-cycle management and clean technology development. Achieving "sustainable development" has emerged as an important challenge-and potentially a source of competitive advantage-for multinational corporations intent on expanding into new global markets.

As more companies begin to address the challenge of global sustainability, there is a great need for informed dialogue about the multitude of strategic and pragmatic issues that arise related to stakeholder expectations, public policies, business practices and innovative technologies. The purpose of this important conference is to bring together leading international experts from industry, government, NGOs and academia in an open forum to discuss both research findings (ways of knowing) and implementation processes (ways of acting) related to the "triple bottom line" of sustainable development-economy, ecology and society. This event should not be missed by anyone whose organization has embarked on the journey to sustainability.
