· Call for Participation for GIN2012 launched:
“Support your future today! Turning environmental challenges into business opportunities”
Linköping, Sweden, October 21-24, 2012
The GIN2012 conference will be organized in Linköping in the county of Östergötland, Sweden. The conference is scheduled for 21—24 October, 2012. It will be combining plenary sessions and workshop presentations/dialogues with information and knowledge sharing between stakeholders in the county of Östergötland and the conference participants. The county is known for its “Triple Helix” basis for innovative SMEs and bio-fuel production synergies. Sweden is strongly focused on clean technology innovation processes and the application of renewable energy. The title of the GIN 2012 conference: “Support your future today! Turning environmental challenges into business opportunities” reflects the approach. The themes of the GIN2012 conference will challenge the participants in sharing knowledge in fruitful dialogues about innovative industry scenarios. The first Call for Participation recently was launched on the Nobel day, 10th December 2011. GIN2012 will also mark the start of the third decade of the network. Be sure to be present at this special occasion!

· New GIN Book Series with Springer
The Greening of Industrial Network Studies Series (Editors in Chief: Diego Vazquez-Brust and Joseph Sarkis, Editorial Board: GIN Coordinating Team) was approved by Springer's board on 22/11/2011. The series will have a series page in Springer's website in January when the first title in the series: Green Growth, Managing the transition to a sustainable economy: Lessons from East Asia and Europe, goes into production. Currently, this title is in pre-production.
The Series aims to improve our understanding of how shifts in industrial regimes, trade, and technology are creating significant environmental and social impacts and inequities around the world; but also opportunities for sustainable economic growth. The series aims to develop knowledge and transform practice to accelerate a paradigm change toward a sustainable society across disciplines, geography, and sectors. As such, the series will be an integral part of GIN-3D (Greening of Industry Network Third Decade) strategy.
Furthermore we like to point your attention to two meetings where GIN is co-organizer:
· “Public and Private Strategies for Sustainable Regional Development”
An International Conference jointly organized by the Greening of Industry Network, University of Twente and Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico City, April 18-20, 2012
GIN has a long and thoughtful history for the exchange of knowledge and innovative perspectives on greening and sustainability. To build on this tradition and history, the topic of the conference in Mexico is on regional sustainable development. We see to focus on the ability of multiple actors to facilitate a transformation to sustainable societies on regional geographic scales. This topic has been a long-standing and complex issue within GIN.
A core question which drives the aim of this conference is: Can collaborative strategies by multi-stakeholders facilitate the conditions towards sustainable regional development models? The conference aims to answer this and other questions which may arise during the conference. Very importantly it aims to facilitate discussion among stakeholders by sharing management and policy strategies towards sustainable regional development.
Further details about the Call for Participation can be found in the website conference http://www.egade.mx/wps/wcm/connect/EBS/EGADE+Business+School/GIN2012/Submission. Reception of abstracts has been extended to 20th January 2012 as deadline.
· Global and Regional Research on Sustainable Consumption & Production: Achievements, Challenges, and Dialogues
June 13-15, 2012, Rio de Janeiro
As part of the RIO+20 meeting the Global Research Forum on Sustainable Consumption and Production brings together individuals and organizations engaged in research and its applications on the transition towards sustainable production/consumption systems from various regions of the world. The two and a half-day workshop will be divided between a focus on the production of SCP research and its communication and application in practice. The workshop is by invitation only. The aim is 40-60 participants, half researchers and half practitioners; equally from various global regions.
